Naheed K. Nenshi born 2 FEB 1972 is a Canadian politician who was elected to succeed Dave Bronconnier as mayor of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, in 2010 Calgary municipal election. He was educated at the University of Calgary, receiving a Bachelor of Commerce in 1993, and completed a Master of Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1998.



Nenshi have written about how cities can retain young professionals and co-founder of two citizen groups to improve Calgary's civic government. Nenshi first ventured into politics in 2004, running unsuccessfully for a spot on Calgary's city council.His growing popularity led to a closer examination of his views, including a public dispute with the Calgary police Chief Rick Hanson of the cost of policing in the city.

In winning the election, was the first Ismaili Nenshi to become mayor of a large Canadian city. Immediately after his victory, Nenshi set out four priorities: reforming how the City Council is run, eliminating the deficit, build a planned tunnel under a proposed new runway at Calgary International Airport, securing funding for the proposed southern leg of the C-train system.
